Abstract: The purpose of the thesis is to show how GeO2 can make it possible for light with wavelength at 2.5μm to be transmitted through fiber. It was achieved by designing 3 different types of fibers: step index fiber, pedestal step index fiber and W type fiber. Moreover, it introduced the advantage of the performance of GeO2 in the thesis.
