Abstract: Since the 1970s, the application of Laser as an entertainment system was commonly seen in pop and rock concerts, entertainment nightclubs and more. This rationale for Laser light being favored over other forms of light, lies in its coherent nature of being able to be projected through a distance via a narrow beam to produce a distinct optical projection, therefore effectively creating the potential for different visual patterns and designs to be projected onto a surface which the end-user ultimately could see. The most common laser application effect is to project a laser beam onto an uneven crystal ball thereby refracting as well as deflecting the light wave outwards till it hits against the surrounding surfaces or wall. The effects produced can be intricate and mesmerizing but highly dangerous as the laser used normally ranges from 20W and above which is able to blind a human eye when directly exposed to it. Therefore in respect to the utilization of laser as a light emitting source in this project, a weaker 5mW laser will be used instead to produce a comparative or even better visual laser display, thereby reducing the potential of rendering a people blind as compared to the risks involved with using higher powered lasers. Leveraging on the reflective effects from a series of rotating mirrors, a spirograph was constructed that could project complicated curves and lines that merged together to create essentially a distinct array of patterns against a projected surface. In general, the outcome and results of the project has been positive to a large extent as the visual patterns projected were both interesting and distinct even when the laser was shone from a considerable distance. Although the project was successful, there is still room for improvement in this project given its potential benefits, therefore the principles and basis of this project is strongly encouraged to be further explored and improved upon in the future.
