Abstract: Viruses are major factors of human infectious diseases. They not only threaten the public health but also cause economic loss in the worldwide. Microarray, as an advanced technology, has been extensively applied in pathogen detection and host transcriptomic examination upon pathogen infection in the field of virology. During these studies, multiple bioinformatics tools are applied in data interpretation. In one project, a novel software, BayesMicro, was established to interpret the data retrieved from pathogen diagnostic microarray chips. And the detection results based on 12 tested arrays demonstrated BayesMicro performed effectively. In other projects, global gene expression profiles were examined in different host cells under different viruses infections using microarray system. Several bioinformatics softwares were applied to perform data processing and further functional annotation for comprehensive understanding of the host-virus interactions.
