Issue Date: 2012
Abstract: This report illustrates the learning experiences and tasks which I have undertaken during the 30 weeks of industrial attachment in ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (ExxonMobil Chemical). It summarizes the valuable knowledge and skills learned after completing every task and participating in daily operation of the company. After several months of working with various engineers and staffs, I have improved my communication skills and working relationship with my fellow colleagues. I have also learned and obtained the knowledge in various mechanical equipments and especially reliability issues. Managing and handling data using excel is also a useful skill learned during the attachment period. Techniques in reading piping and instruments diagrams (P&IDs), as well mechanical drawings are also learned. In addition, the diligent and impeccable attitude in troubleshooting problems and dealing with tasks shown by engineers is also an important skill that I have acquired. As an ExxonMobil intern student, I also learned a lot about the leading technologies in petrochemical engineering industry, including mechanical related knowledge in oil refining. By obtaining the skills and techniques as well as the good attitude in working, it prepares me for my future engineering career. It is indeed a good opportunity to involve in the industrial attachment so as to experience the real life of an engineer.
