Title: | Musical note extraction algorithm | Authors: | Ang, Jia Yi | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering | Issue Date: | 2006 | Abstract: | This report concerns the recognition of musical notes. This requires the extraction of the loudnesses and timings of the musical notes played. In this report, the detection of the musical notes will be identified thorough the algorithm developed. The algorithm developed will focus on the detecting the onset of the notes, and identifying the musical notes through the constant Q transform method. The fundamental frequencies and harmonic frequencies of the notes are the vital information in identifying the musical notes played. References were drawn from previous studies conducted on related areas of interest. The significance of this thesis concerns the development of algorithms that can be used to detect and observe harmonic music in polyphonic signals, as well as implementing the program to detect musical notes played from other instruments. The music recognition program was implemented and simulated in Matlab platform. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/62154 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
