Abstract: “马华”一词在二战前开始使用直到今日,在这段时期其意涵随着时代演进而产生变化。“马华”的“马”有马来亚和马来西亚的意涵,而“华”主要表示“华侨”、“华人”和“华语”的意涵。本文以“马华”为关键字,从战前主要报章《南洋商报》的新闻版和副刊收集第一手材料,以1931年至1962年期间的文章材料找出有“马华”关键字的文章。研究结果主要分为两个部分,第一个部分是追溯“马华”的起源以及“马华”与“南洋”的关系,讨论“马华”意涵的的变化;另一部分是从语境理论出发,以二战为界线,探讨“马华”关键字在战前和战后文章中的使用语境,由于研究材料过多,研究重点放在战前马华文学/马华文艺、马华战前所举办的各种运动和马华妇女,以及战后马华公会和马华教育。“Ma Hua” is a term used until today began before World War II, during this period its meaning changes with time evolution. “Ma” means “Malaya” and “Malaysia”, and “Hua” basically indicates “Overseas Chinese”, “Chinese” and “Chinese Language”. In this paper,taking "Ma Hua" as the keyword, collect first-hand material from the pre-war major newspapers "Nanyang Siang Pau", from its published news and supplement in the year 1931 to 1962. The results of the study is divided into two parts, the first part is the origin of the “Ma Hua”, its relationhip with “Nanyang”, and the changes of the context of “Ma Hua”; the other part is from the perspective of context theory, discuss the usage in the context of “Ma Hua” in the article before the war and after the war. The study subject will focus on Malayan Chinese literature / Ma Hua literary, pre-war Ma Hua events and Malayan Chinese women; MCA and Malayan education.
