Authors: Yap, Alex
Keywords: DRNTU::Social sciences::Sociology
Issue Date: 2015
Abstract: Sociological studies have been done to account for the gender gap in gaming where a male hegemony has been casted upon. There is a need for us to delve deeper into the topic as gaming becomes lucrative and a profession and the females are excluded from it. There is a lack of research that has been done on the gender gap in professional. This research will thus investigate the gender gap in recreational gaming in the themes of, nature of computer games; familiarity with consoles and hardware; culture in gaming; identity of a gamer, before extending these reasons to account for the gender gap in professional gaming.
