Abstract: Mobile devices are very popular as a mode of communication and entertainment with an increasingly large number of people owning them. With mobile devices becoming more and more integrated in people’s lives, people rely increasingly on them to get updated with the latest news and happenings around them. There are many apps in the app store these days which allow people to search what are near a location. However, the ability to search for sales and promotions in his/her vicinity, especially in Singapore, is not widely available. This project is an attempt to create an Android app which allows users to discover upcoming and ongoing promotions/sales that are available in their vicinity by using the user’s current location or a location provided by the user. Other features such as favourites, promotion search by image and so on are also included in the app to create a better overall user experience. A Web platform is also created for companies or business owners to submit and publish their sales or promotion information. It also serves as a Web application which allows non-Android phone users to view promotions within their pre-selected location. Programming of the code was done using the Android SDK in the Android Studio (IDE) and Django Web framework. Code was written using a combination of Java, XML, Python, HTML, Javascript, and CSS. Overall, the application is successful in presenting an integrated solution to search for nearby promotions. Due to the limitations of the APIs, certain existing features have unavoidable inconveniences, and some features could not be developed, providing much potential for the future growth of the application.
