Title: | Traditional, modern, women | Authors: | Lee, Rachel Jueyi | Keywords: | DRNTU::Humanities::Literature::Singapore | Issue Date: | 2015 | Abstract: | This irony of the traditional and modern roles Singaporean women have to play serves as an overarching theme in all my plays. My three plays explore different factors that help create this identity of a traditional yet modern woman in Singapore; in the media, the family and in culture. Through the use of media, I hope to trigger thoughts that might one day create conversations about the contradictory expectations of women that still exist in today’s Singapore society not only among men, but among women as well, questioning the reasons that the modern woman, despite knowing the mechanisms of the media, still fall for these images sold. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/62760 | Schools: | School of Humanities and Social Sciences | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
