Abstract: In this modern society with the advancement in technology, many industries turned and utilised the convenience that comes with advanced technology. Painting is no exception. A new form of painting known as digital art emerges. A group of specially trained artists, also known as digital artists, make use of their Wacom tablets and computer screen overthrown the times of paintbrushes and pens. With this change also see the decrease in time required for artwork creation as painting errors could easily be omitted. However, with such advancement still does not mean that painting is made an activity suitable for all. These digital artists require years of training to muster their drawing skills. Thus, this still does not remove the barrier of which non-artists; or beginners, are unable to draw out the image in their minds. Thus, this caused the motivation for the project, one of which will investigate the list of drawing tools made available, discuss each drawing tools in terms of the pros and cons, compare the drawing tools and eventually identify the most suitable tool for non-artists and beginners to use. At the end of the investigation, Krita, one the nine shortlisted tools, emerged the best drawing tools amongst the nine as it fulfilled all the criteria in the comparison table made. Also, the wide range of features both meant for beginners and advanced users, give the flexibility of allowing these non-artists or beginners to keep using the same drawing tool despite seeing improvements in drawing.
