Authors: Ong, Rong Hui

Issue Date: 2014
Abstract: Despite the various study carried out to determine the effects collaborative environment has on concurrent operation, in particular, the combined-effect of concurrent operations, studies have not pointed out the problems which may arise from a having more than two collaborators. This paper aims to find out the combined-effects concurrency across different cloud storages in a collaborative environment, and to devise a benchmarking mechanism suitable for use. The paper also shows how Box and Google Drive handles conflicting operations, and reveals that Google Drive was inconsistent in reproducing replicated copies of the files. From the findings, this paper will contribute to better inform cloud storage providers the problems that surfaced during our research, and show how our benchmarking tool can serve as a tool to test the robustness of the cloud storage.
