Abstract: This dissertation focuses on developing expert system for the Distributed Data Rectification and Process Monitoring Sensor Network in the domain of chemical process. It is developed using the expert system development shell called CLIPS. This expert system identifies and diagnoses the process or sensor fault in the plant. To develop this system, knowledge is acquired from domain expert and the acquired knowledge is represented in the form of rules. All these rules form the knowledge base for the system and these rules are in the format suitable for CLIPS inference engine.
