L.||Keywords:||DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Computer hardware, software and systems||Issue Date:||2015||Abstract:||In today’s Singapore society, most of the general population have an average standard of living. However, there is a certain percentage of the people who are still unable to even afford basic household items. Hence these low income families do require a helping hand to gain and to also sustain an average standard of leaving. Although there are charitable organizations, most people are unaware of how to go about donating reusable items, and also people might find it a hassle to actually go to a specific location to drop off items, especially if they are bulky. Hence, most people end up discarding the item or pass it to be recycled rather than reused, even though it is of good working condition. With the help of information technology, the author developed a web application named Don-Aid, which would provide great assistance to the low income families. In the internet age, almost everything is done using web application. Thus the Don-Aid web application would be a good platform for donors to contribute to the society by playing their parts through donation of reusable items. Hence the objective of the web application was to provide users with a platform that would allow the donation process to be very simplified and accessible. Additionally, the web application should be customized such that it can be passed to the charitable organization for them to monitor and respond to the donor’s donation. The overall outcome of the project met the objective and also the author believes that this would create a positive impact in the society, by helping low income families to sustain a better standard of living. Furthermore, the author also feels that the web application could enhance awareness and at the same time, impose the importance of giving to the needy.||URI:||http://hdl.handle.net/10356/63855||Rights:||Nanyang Technological University||Fulltext Permission:||restricted||Fulltext Availability:||With Fulltext|
