Title: | Thermal effect from heat rejection devices in the air well | Authors: | Su, Yu. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Mechanical engineering | Issue Date: | 2003 | Abstract: | The emphasis of this research is to investigate stack effect in the air well and find a solution to avoid the extreme conditions mentioned above. Two kinds of air wells (one without slots on the sidewall and one with slots on the sidewall) were investigated. A computer program was developed to solve the flow and temperature distribution in these two air wells due to buoyant effect. An unknown parameter (pressure loss coefficient due to opposing flow from the condenser fans in the air well) should be solved before the computer program can run. Therefore, two simple CFD simulation (one for scale model and one for prototype model) and a real scale model experiment were used to determine this parameter. There is no temperature and heat calculation in these simple CFD simulations. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/6422 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Production Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
