Abstract: A new pressure reactor system was designed to synthesize a novel branched ester-ethylene-vinyl acetate (BEEVA) emulsion polymer. The reactor system was capable of handling pressure up to 1350 psig (9.3 MPa) and had a radial or turbine impeller with hollow shaft and blow pipe to provide good mixing of ethylene gas from the headspace to the aqueous charge in the reactor.
