Abstract: Magnesium alloys are the lightest of all structural metals with density of about 40% less than those of aluminium alloys. Today, Mg-3Al-1Zn (AZ31B) sheets have been employed in some aerospace and general commercial applications requiring high strength-to-weight ratio. However, magnesium application is still limited compared to other light alloys.
