Abstract: Bluetooth Low Energy is the latest Bluetooth 4.0 technology with obvious lowered power consumption property. Based on BLE, devices can be easily maintained for years on a coin-cell battery. Therefore, various applications appear in the market for different purposes such as smart energy, sports or health care etc., which make our life more digital and intelligent. In this report, the system designed for elderly care is introduced. Firstly, the background of worldwide aging problems is discussed and the project objective and design scope are proposed; secondly, the basic knowledge of classic Bluetooth and BLE are presented and compared, together with several BLE applications and terminologies; thirdly, the hardware and software requirements needed to fulfill the project are discussed; after that, the implementation of system is developed in detail with all functions and features; finally, conclusion is made and concepts of future work are proposed.
