Issue Date: 2015
Abstract: Injuries and fatalities among elder adults caused by falls are becoming more and more popular, especially in countries with aging population like Singapore and Japan. In order to reduce the risk of falling accident, many researches have been carried out to monitor the daily activities of older people and warn about falling threats. Among those researches, a lot of projects to detect Sit-To-Stand movement have been approached. With the development of Microsoft Kinect as a motion sensing camera device, one can utilize advanced functions of Microsoft Kinect to integrate into his/her own researches. This project focuses on the understanding of Microsoft Kinect sensors, as well as utilizing Kinect as a monitor device to detect Sit-To-Stand movements.
