Title: Development of customized software for a 3D printer

Abstract: 3D printers are machines which are capable of developing solid objects from a digital model. With today’s technology, there are currently several types of processes in which these objects can be printed. In this study, the author looked at some of the more common additive manufacturing processes available in the market. He focused on DLP based printing and explored its human- computer interaction. Open source softwares available online were assessed and compared so as to meet the prescribed requirements in this technology. In terms of coding, a suitable language was chosen and used to help create a program for this software. In the main experiment of this report, an actual design of an integrated application for a 3D printer using current DLP technology was developed and eventually made to communicate and control a 3D printer.
