Title: | Intelligent building energy management system in smart grid | Authors: | Cui, Qing Min | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering | Issue Date: | 2015 | Abstract: | Climate change and growing shortage of resources are the big challenges of our time. Many countries around the world are relied on imported energy, Singapore is no exception. As a highly urbanized country, about 38% of the total nation’s electricity energy was used by commercial building in 2012 [1]. Commercial buildings, including office buildings, warehouses, convenience stores and shopping malls, are equipped with various types of electrical loads. HVAC and lighting together are the major energy consumption appliances in an office building which approximately consume 68% of the total energy [2]. Building energy management system (BEMS) is an automatic centralized control system, which monitors and controls the building’s mechanical system, lighting, HVAC and so on. With the help of BEMS, the energy consumption of the commercial building will be decreased within the contracted capacity or demand limit and the efficiency of the energy usage will be improved. The objective of this project is to develop an intelligent BEMS in the smart grid which can achieve an optimization of energy efficiency in buildings and therefore enable energy savings. Such objective is supported by the development of intelligent building controllers which can efficiently manage the building’s energy usage. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/65674 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
