Title: | Grain growth of magnesium alloy AZ31B in isothermal condition | Authors: | Aprilia | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Materials | Issue Date: | 2015 | Abstract: | Magnesium alloys are commonly used in many application such as automotive, aerospace and electronics industries due to theirs favorable characteristics of light weight, high specific strength, high specific stiffness and excellent machinability. AZ31B is one of the commercially used wrought magnesium alloy. It has good strength and good ductility. In this project, experimental studies were conducted to analyze this AZ31B magnesium alloy. Chemical composition, average grain size of 31.9 μm, and micro hardness value of 59.475 HV were obtained. Optical, stereo and scanning electron micrograph were collected. Twin disappearing process was investigated. Using kinetic and Arrhenius equation, the mechanism of grain growth was studied. The kinetic grain growth equations and Hall-Petch equation were also obtained. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/65708 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
