dc.description.abstract | Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) is an assortment of regular repeated structures which can be utilized either as a band stop or as a band pass filter. A compact aperture type resonator based frequency selective surface has been proposed, which utilizes only single layer aperture type resonators which is easier for manufacturing, designing and fabrication. The designed FSS structure has equally spaced at each operation bands with good performance at selected frequency. The simple two dimensional combinations of replicated T-shaped, U-shaped and a rectangular shaped aperture type resonator are integrated to accomplish the ability of obtaining multi bands using single layer FSS. A full wave CST Microwave solver has been utilized to optimize the dimensions of the aperture type resonators. The designed FSS structure is selfreliant of orientation and polarization due to 90° tilt in structure of unit cell. With the authentication of simulation and measurement results the designed FSS has been validated. A Horn Antenna is chosen for the experimental verification. The simulation and the measured results both represent that, designed FSS structure operate at the desired frequencies between 8GHz to 14GHz. The insertion loss that has been examined during the measurement analysis of the fabricated Frequency Selective Surface is 3.26 dB at 8.11 GHz, 2.68 dB at 9.81 GHz, 1.12 dB at 11GHz and 0.024 dB at 12 GHz. | en_US |
