In this paper, I analyse the male homoerotic writing style in Longyang yishi through three main perspectives: first is to look at how Longyang yishi construct male beauty as irresistible to all man and even to surpass woman's beauty in the stories; secondly through the erotic description of the stories to uncover the relationship of social class and status between the penetrant and penetrated men; last but not least, to probe the male beauty portrayed in the stories to provide a better understanding in the male homoerotic fashion during the late Ming dynasty and how the novel represent it in its stories. Thus, create a comprehensive analysis of the Longyang yishi's male homoerotic writing style and phenomenon of the male beauty during the late Ming dynasty. As an important work regarding male homoerotic writing during the late Ming dynasty, Longyang yishi embodies the inconstancy and ruthless side of the boy prostitutes during the late Ming sociality. Through close reading and analysis of the novel, this paper will discuss how Longyang yishi reflect male love and phenomenon of the male beauty during the late Ming dynasty.
