Issue Date: 2016
Abstract: With a growing importance of developing educational applications, this study attempts to assess the possibility of applying gamification in the development of an educational game, surveying processes and factors behind gamification and traditional software development to develop a new approach to developing educational games, improving the quality of educational games in the market. |The first half covers a study which attempts to unify material from various domains, including pedagogy, gamification, game design and UX to define a theoretical framework that unifies several materials and frameworks from the domains of pedagogy, psychology, gamification, game design and HCI, which game designers, developers, as well as educational researchers and practitioners can refer to. | The next half of the report documents the development of an application on Unity that extends the functionality of an existing web-based Digital Asset Management System as a first step to provide Platform-as-a-Service support for educational game development.
