Going abroad a view on the export feasibilities from the local construction industry

Abstract

The construction sector has been the prime mover of Singapore's economy in the last few decades. In the past, construction export from Singapore was never the issue owing to the overwhelming local demands. However, the cycles of boom and bust have seen many contractors exploring the overseas markets to maintain optimal growth and sustain further expansion. In this aspect, the Government has always played a major role. Construction has consistently been a key element used by the Government to balance the overall economic performance. To maintain a healthy construction industry, the Singapore Government has strongly embarked on promoting the quality of work, and regulating the contractors in the industry. The Government also provides all assistance to promote the export of construction to the regional and international markets.
