Abstract: IT applications in architectural, engineering and construction are rapidly gaining importance as regional construction industries gear themselves for heavier usage of computer-aided designs, drafting and management. In Singapore, the Government had started the CORENET initiative more than 10 years ago to help the construction industry to deliver better and faster services. This dissertation measures the effectiveness and efficiency of CORENET in terms of the benefits in convenience provided, and time and cost savings from the user's perspective. A survey was conducted on a sample of developers, architects, engineering consultants and contractors to detenninc the factors affecting the effectiveness and efficiency of the various coinponents of COREN ET. Descriptive statistics and regression inodels were used to analyse the results with the aid of SPSS Version 12.0. It was observed that CORENET proves to be effective and efficient in one way or the other.
