Title: | Improvement of optical misalignment checking instrument | Authors: | Ng, Wei Xuan Samuel | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering | Issue Date: | 2016 | Abstract: | The primary purpose of this paper is to make evaluation and improvements to the Optical Misalignment Checking Instrument. After evaluating the set-up, the main improvements require me to design a self-centering sample holder and an interface program for the observation and analyzing of the laser beam track on the detector. A misalignment instrument consist of many components and out of them, the sample holder is the most important. To have an accurate judgement of the optical lens, it will rely on the design and quality of the sample holder. A simple interface program with objective of displaying the decentering measurement of the lens assembly with reference to the housing, displaying whether the lens is upsize down and displaying if there is a sink mark on the lens. The program was able to locate the location of the bright spot, which is captured from the laser and able to calculate the best fit circle with given random numbers of data. The sample holder was able to fit lens with sizes ranging from 20mm to 32mm in diameter. In conclusion, the efforts have been made to improve a customized misalignment checking instrument which was developed by Wavelength Opto-electronic Singapore. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/67175 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Organisations: | Wavelength Optics-Electronic | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
