dc.description.abstractGeotextiles are permeable fabrics typically made from polypropylene or polyester and widely used in civil engineering projects such as roads, embankments, retaining structures, costal engineering, siltation prevention, reservoirs, canals and dams. The purposes of geotextile being used are for site drainage where water is gathered and to discharge to a location, separation of soil materials to prevent mixing between two layers of soil with different particle size or different properties, reinforcement purposes where geotextiles are used to reinforce earth where fill materials are placed and protection of earth embankments by waves and currents where a layer of geotextile is placed underneath the rock. As geotextile rolls come in fixed sizes with one roll not being able to completely cover the entire area, there is a need to seam geotextile panels together to achieve the full coverage for the site. In this study, a reinforcing method will be tested on various types of geotextiles to determine the tensile strength and seam efficiency.en_US
