Abstract: Booming information technologies have been changing the way people live and behave significantly over the past few decades. An effective and user friendly data dissemination system is required to deliver the information online. This project aims to improve on the current data dissemination system and to implement more features to build a new system for the Photonics @ SG website. As the result of evolving information technology, smartphones, tablets and other new devices are used more frequently in various activities, such as receiving emails, surfing the internet and playing games. Therefore, it is becoming more and more important that websites can adapt to devices with different screen sizes, without compromising any of their functionalities. One common solution for this demand is the Responsive Web Design (RWD) that can build websites with fluid layout and responsive images, tables, and forms, etc. In this paper, the existing functions and frameworks of RWD will be assessed in terms of user experience and browser compatibility, and new features will be explored to be implemented in the new system.
