Abstract: Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBC) are used to prolong the lifetime of the metallic components exposed to harsh environments. To deal with the issue of bondcoat oxidation during high-temperature service leads to large residual stress that can cause delamination of the coating, Al2O3/ZrO2 system is proposed to improve the oxidation resistance of the TBC and hence, avoiding the catastrophic failure.
