The Internet of Things concept refers to having everyday physical objects connected to the network to allow sampling, collection and exchange of all sorts of data. Some of these data are useful to the general public such as weather, news, transportation arrival etc. Being able to provide these information to people in a seamless manner would help improve people’s lives in terms of efficiency. An Embedded System refers to a computational system that serves particular function within a larger system. The Raspberry Pi 2 is one such electronic device that is capable of providing computing capabilities in a small form factor, allowing it to be easily embedded within another system or object. This report documents the development of a Smart Mirror that is capable of displaying a variety of information requested by the user through voice commands. This report shows how an everyday object like the mirror is able to become an information provider to improve efficiency and serves as an extension of the Internet of Things concept. The project is scalable and modular in nature allowing future enhancements to be made in terms of fetching new varieties of information as more real-time data are made available to the public via APIs from the public authorities.en_US
