Title: | Stress and fracture analysis of straight attachment lugs using boundary element method | Authors: | Yeoh, Kai Hoong | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering | Issue Date: | 2016 | Abstract: | Boundary Element Method (BEM) was used to carry out stress and fractures mechanics analysis for a pin loaded straight attachment lug. The effect of geometric parameter variations such as the outer-to-inner radius ratio and orientation of the loading on the lug were investigated. The location of the highest stress concentration factor was noted from the tangential stress distribution along the edge of hole of the lug. The crack was modeled at those critical locations and the stress intensity factor was obtained using BEM. It was noted that the direction of the loading and the outer-to-inner radius ratio has an influence on the locations of the highest stress concentration factor. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/67829 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
