Issue Date: 2016
Abstract: This project aims to develop a Windows platform PC game, which is a 2.5 D Role-Playing game based on food culture in Singapore. Students worked in a team of three to complete this project. The final product was submitted to the Microsoft Imagine Cup competition in 2016, and emerged as First Runner-up in Singapore finals. The team of students handled full game development procedures including the game flow design, graphic design and coding. The game introduces Traditional Chinese concepts of Yinyang balance and healthy eating. In the game, the player will experience a series of stories that happen in different seasons and different places of an imaginary world. He will learn to collect ingredients from nature, cook dishes in the kitchen, and learn about how to balance his diet. The game was developed on Unity3D, a popular engine among game developers, and the graphics were developed with Photoshop and Flash. The programming language used in Unity3D was C#.
