Abstract: In a remarkably short timeframe, more and more developers focus on smartphones. It seems that developing apps for smartphones has gone from an arcane curiosity to an essential skill set. Likewise, computer vision is also regarded as frontier science with great potential. This project combines Android app developing and computer vision and it has an attempt to make a little change in people’s daily life. Cars are the popular means of transportation nowadays. It is normal for a family owning one or more cars. So this project proposes an idea to distinguish different kinds of car logos. That is the Android app proposed in this dissertation. The app named iCar discussed in this dissertation is a fashion auto logos searching app. The main function of the app is to distinguish various kinds of auto logos on the street, poster, films or anywhere by just taking a photo of them. It is quite convenient and interesting for motor lovers. Girls may want know more about auto logos so that they can have more common topics with their boyfriends. People take a photo of one logo. After a short time processing, the app gives users the detail about the logo, Iike what the brand is and the homepage of this brand. Digital image processing knowledge is important in it to do the image searching part.
