Abstract: In recent decades, the use of automobiles across the world is increasing drastically. Thus in our day-to-day life, refueling automobiles has been added as a routine activity. Nevertheless it is in general not perceived as pleasant, as the work is done manually either by ourselves or by an employee. In this new stage of innovation, intelligent automation is helping to transcend from routine activities by escalating their performance and quality. When the process of fueling is automated using humanoid robots, it can prevent human from being contacted with dangerous fumes and also it can reduce the labor costs associated with the full service fueling stations. The present proposal intends to develop a prototype of automatic refueling system based on NAO robot. In particularly, the study will focus on two subsystems, i.e., 1) vision inspection of fuel port and 2) Calculations for guiding robot arm. The vision part mainly involves the detection of the 3D location of the fuel port by using two 2D high-resolution cameras whereas the latter part involves the analytical computations for the action and movement controls of the NAO robot. The proposal aims to build the conceptual prototype of the vision and motion subsystems. Thus the ultimate aim of the work is to find the location of the fuel door using vision subsystems and to find the method to guide the nozzle into the hole by specific arm movements.
