He struggles to reconcile issues within his own marriage with repairing his estranged relationship with his father, while the father, Ah Hock, has to come to terms with losing his wife given the circumstance of his illness. The film deals with themes of mental illness, filial piety, and family dynamics in a Singaporean context.
