Issue Date: 2016
Abstract: The student was attached to Delcam for 6 months for an industrial development project. This thesis describes in detail the work done for process development for blade polishing by adaptive machining methods. A brief introduction including literature review, project scope and objective were outlined initially. Next, it highlighted the methods and process used as well as the materials, machine and software. Experiments including machining, polishing and data collection were carried out by fixing and varying different process parameters such as the feed rate, spindle speed. Analysis was carried out from the data collected and an optimal set of parameter is obtained. Finally, discussion and conclusion were presented and future development was raised. The project explores an alternative method to blade polishing by means of using abrasive discs operated by Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine.
