dc.description.abstract | Nowadays, social networks are immersed in lots of aspects of our lives, and we use them to communicate with friends, obtain information, learn knowledge, and so on. It will be great if a social network channel can be specially created for family members in order to promote relationships between family members, and provide special functions which can meet families’ needs. This project is to design a smart product for families, which consists of an Android application, a Raspberry Pi with an indoor surveillance program, and a laptop with an indoor surveillance program. The Android application, which is called “Family Chat”, has the following functions: 1. An user can chat with other users person to person or in a group; 2. An user can schedule events with other family members; 3. An user can check other family member’s location using this application, so that he/she can ensure the safety of children and elderlies; 4. An user can monitor his/her home through Raspberry Pi and laptop. The Raspberry Pi can do motion detection, and send the user an alert after it detect any intruders, while the laptop can do face recognition and alert the user who came into the room. This application has good market prospect, since the market of family applications has large potential, and comparing to other similar family applications, the Family Chat has its advantages. | en_US |
