Abstract: This dissertation project aimed to review the current state of research into Construction Supply Chain Management (CSCM), successful projects in the area and specifically the perception of the supplier evaluation of the construction supply chain companies. The study was focused in two countries: Mexico and Singapore. Mainly because the project had funds from Mexico and the research was based in Singapore, the opportunity to compare both situations was considered important. A survey questionnaire was applied in a sample of construction companies of the Mexican state of Yucatan and in Singapore. Since the Singaporean survey response rate, even with repeated reminders, was not acceptable, the method was adapted into a case study of four companies for that country. The research shows that companies in both countries are mostly in line with the tendencies of construction supply chains in other parts of the world. The most common method to evaluate suppliers was a simple cost-ratio model, with informal non-standardized consideration of other criteria like quality, trust and reliability. A different method was used for each country, but in the results Singaporean were more likely to have a method in place and a group in charge of supplier evaluation. Project by project nature of the work in the industry was indicated to be the main challenge for implementing successful supplier evaluation methods in the construction supply chain. Further studies on the effects of the implementation of supplier evaluation models, on the difference in approaches and results between countries, and on the current status of online survey response rate are considered.
