Authors: Arivazhagan, Aiswarya Devi
Keywords: DRNTU::Humanities
Issue Date: 2017
Abstract: This essay will begin by exploring the trauma of a postcolonial Tamilnadu and how it affects its treatment of fair skinned women in Tamil cinema. The essay will then progress to argue that the casting of fair-skinned heroines in mainstream Tamil cinema enables postcolonial India to re-examine its relationship with its former colonial masters.
