Title: | Study on LPWAN technologies | Authors: | Ong, Wei Jie | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Computer science and engineering::Computer systems organization::Computer-communication networks | Issue Date: | 2017 | Abstract: | In today’s fast-paced and globalised world, an increasing trend in the Internet of Things (IoT) market can be observed. [14] This is attributed to the increasing demand of extensive coverage for communications. IoT devices have the ability to monitor or regulate any object remotely across the network infrastructure and hence the need for it has increased exponentially. [13] Typically, routers are used to set up network infrastructure. However, routers have high power consumption and a limited range of transmission of up to 46 m. [10] The current technologies such as SigFox, LoRa, and NB-IoT allow for larger transmission ranges and lower power consumptions as compared to that of a router. [1][3] Manuka further verified that there exist devices that can offer wireless range connection of up to 40 km [12]. Therefore, this report aims to study extensively on LoRa technology to confirm such findings and to ascertain the proficiency of such LoRa technology. This report documents the development of LoRa devices using various tools such as Arduino Uno, LoRa radio modules and Raspberry Pi to study the capability of LoRa Technology. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/70437 | Schools: | School of Computer Science and Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
