|Title:||Development of a mooring line model for coupled floating structure dynamic analysis||Authors:||Bai, Ziyi||Keywords:||DRNTU::Engineering::Aeronautical engineering||Issue Date:||2017||Abstract:||The construction of various offshore structures is essential to the exploration of oil and gas industry and development of renewable energy. To ensure the safety and long term operation of floating offshore structures, the monitor and study on the dynamic response of the structure can provide information on loading, fatigue and motion of the system. Among various platforms, many of which make use of mooring line system to stabilize. In order to predict the dynamic response of the system, an accurate and efficient mooring line model is needed. Development of coupled dynamic mooring line model needs an initial static profile to conduct time marching. The main concern of this report is to develop a model which can obtain the static profile of the mooring line for time marching to be implemented. The model should possess the features of adding point buoys, clump weights, different anchor fairlead concepts and multiple line segments to a single mooring line. The model is proposed by National Renewable Energy Laboratory, U.S. as multi-segmented quasi-static modelling. The model is studied and implemented in programming language Python in this report. Each function of the model was tested and validated.
