Abstract: This report consists of details pertaining to various research and development that led to the final product of the project. It will discuss on the methodologies and reasons for the materials and decisions made respectively to produce the most efficient results based on the time frame of the entire project. This project mainly focuses on building a robust and relatively low cost system that makes full use of IoT and open-sourced devices, Raspberry Pi 3, Arduino, and Android, for home security. The system ensures an added level of security to homes or apartments as visitors would be given authorisation by the owner before granting access to its residence. The project was built with open-sourcing in mind where the entire system may be moderately replicated and further improved, thus providing opportunities for students, educators, or even budding technology enthusiast to make their own version of the project.
