|Title:||Integration of ultra-capacitor in DC micro-grid||Authors:||Tai, Boon Seng||Keywords:||DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Power electronics||Issue Date:||2017||Abstract:||In the terms of power system and sustainability, various renewable energy has been introduced into the market and integrated with the existing grid networks. With the heavy reliance on the grid, the integration and operation of DC micro-grid are widely implemented in today’s power systems. Ultra-capacitor is an alternative to conventional battery energy system(BES) and renewable energy system (RES). To integrate the ultra-capacitors, we study the application of power electronics in DC/DC converters which require the duty cycling control of the converter via the Proportional Integral (PI) control method. MATLAB programs carried out the procedures of testing and troubleshooting the different boards such as the power board, control board etc. Protection system design against faults such as overcurrent, short circuits and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).||URI:||http://hdl.handle.net/10356/70951||Rights:||Nanyang Technological University||Fulltext Permission:||restricted||Fulltext Availability:||With Fulltext|
