Abstract: With the increasing demand of location-awareness applications in indoor environment, indoor positioning technology attracts worldwide attention and investigation in recent years. GPS does not work indoors. Indoors is where we spend almost all of our time and where commerce and businesses happen. If one can do indoor localizations, then one can do many things that are not possible with GPS. Accurate indoor positioning can be explored and utilized in many sectors such as retailers, shopping malls, and supermarket. Wi-Fi and other RF-based approaches deliver positioning accuracies measured in meters and no orientation information, making them a poor fit for many applications (such as indoor robots, UGV and UAV) that require high positioning accuracy.
