Title: | Seven days calling | Authors: | Chan, Nicole Jin Hui | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music | Issue Date: | 2017 | Abstract: | Over the decades, society has set a “box” of ideals upon itself, and the human desire especially for security, social acceptance, and success have caused many to compromise and repress their personal principals, values, hopes and dreams just to be perceived as “normal”. This then results in people losing sight of their true identities - bringing up several questions. "Is there a reason for us to exist on Earth? What is our purpose and calling in life? Are our identities important? And if we have forgotten who we are, how do we re-discover it?" Drawing mainly from the concepts of the Monomyth (Campbell, 1949), Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (Maslow, 1943), Synchronicity (Jung, 1952) and Archetypes (Jung, 1969) this project attempts to seek out the answers to these questions through the medium of a story. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/71184 | Schools: | School of Art, Design and Media | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
