Abstract: With the shortening of product lifecycles in the fast clockspeed environment, supply chains have to adapt to the increasingly challenging environment for business continuity. Consequently, it has presented various challenges for the stakeholders in supply chain management. One of the supply chain trends that emerged from the era of fast clockspeed environment is OC retailing, a retail business model whereby consumers expect a seamless cross-channel retail experiences with information visibility across its supply chain. Literatures on the key themes for fast clockspeed environment, OC retailing and OC distribution network were reviewed. Subsequently, a research gap was identified between OC supply chain and its effectiveness in mitigating the fast clockspeed challenges. In measuring the effectiveness of OC supply chain in mitigating the challenges of fast clockspeed environment, the agility (defined as the ability to respond quickly to market volatility) of OC supply chain was investigated, and various data from interviews, research journals, and papers from consulting firms were also gathered. It was revealed that while OC supply chain could mitigate the challenges, the extent of successful mitigation was constrained by high costs and limited working relationships between the stakeholders. Recommendations and considerations for future scope of research were also outlined.
