dc.description.abstractUltrafast laser is an enabling technology and widespread tools for many practical applications and edge cutting researches. The techniques for the generation of ultrashort pulses of light have made great progress and advancement ever since the 1970s, starting from dye lasers generating picoseconds pulse to solid-state lasers operating in the femtoseconds regime. Further shortening of pulse duration can be achieve with pulse compression techniques. This project will train and familiar the student with basic concepts and applications of ultrafast laser technology, particularly in the area of pulse compression through literature review and building a laser compression setup.en_US
