Abstract: Nowadays, most of the people in the world are using internet in their daily activities such as banking, online shopping and social networking. Moreover, the use of internet is getting easier and most of the applications become online and thus internet security become more important. One of the basic internet security mechanisms is the password which is used as the authentication of someone/something to another one via a computer network. However, the numbers of malicious applications targeting passwords and account information have increased significantly over the past few years. Because of these threats, scientists and engineers are studying the ways to enhance the computer network security. In this project, we will study the current password based authentication mechanisms and possible attacks and then to exploit a new secure authentication with short memorable passwords.
