dc.description.abstract | A pump mathematical model was computerised using ForTran Programming Language. Water is used as the working fluid. The mathematical model consists of the pump governing equation which was derived from the definition for the bulk modulus of the working fluid, the conservation of mass, the geometrical relations governing the variation of working chamber volume and the valves equations for suction and discharge valves. The model is able to predict the variation of volume of the working chamber, the variation of the pressure of the working fluid, and the amount of flows through the suction and the discharge valves. For the valve model, spring loaded disc valve were used for both suction and discharge. Since there is no energy equation was involved and hence the temperature of the working fluid was not able to be obtained. The results have been verified by comparing with those from the reference research paper to ensure that the programming has been done correctly. Future work was proposed that optimization can be carried out to use the existing model to design future pumps with different capacity but under the same design. | en_US |
